Family fun day at Berkeley Castle.

Family fun day at Berkeley Castle.

Hello lovelies! How are you all? It’s been a little quiet over here on my blog lately partly due to us being so busy with the Wedding, we had such a wonderful day and family moon in Cornwall and I just felt like taking a little bit of a break on our return back but I’m back today with a post all about our most recent visit to the wonderful Berkeley Castle.

You will find Berkeley Castle nestled in the town of Berkeley, Gloucestershire looking out over the Berkeley Vale. It is one of the most stunning and historic buildings in Britain with so much to offer.

Last weekend we spent a glorious sunny Sunday at the family fun day event being hosted at the castle and I thought I’d share some of the photos from our day and tell you a bit about what we got up to.

This is the second time we’ve visited since having Freya and we’ve had such a lovely time on both occasions. It’s very family friendly and has so much for everyone to enjoy, with the architecture of the building, the rich history of the castle, the beautiful gardens, woodland, lush lawns and lots to keep the kiddies happy it’s a fantastic family day out.

On both visits Freya has loved to take part in the dragon hunt! Not only does It keep the little lady entertained it also gives us the opportunity to explore the beautiful woodland, walk across the lawns and even discover secret tunnels.

On our quest to find all 8 dragons we we swooped across the lawns and came across the garden games which kept us all occupied up until lunch time. Daddy won at snakes and ladders.

As you can see from the next photo below Freya was more than excited to spot the giant games and bouncy castles which were all part of the family fun day! As soon as she spotted them she was off!

To our surprise though she was much more interested in the football’s than the bouncy castles.

She didn’t quite master the limbo but had great fun regardless, knocking off the stick with her head!

With it being such a lovely sunny day there was plenty of places to sit on the lawns to rest and eat lunch. We took a picnic along with us but there is also the lovely yurt cafe offering refreshments throughout the day. although we did manage to get her to have a little bite to eat Freya was not impressed with taking a break and couldn’t wait to get back to the games. After some more playing around we made our way back up to the castle.

Before heading inside we spent some time checking out the charming arts and crafts and dressing up area, Freya was absolutely In her element as dressing up is one of her most favourite things to do at the moment! It was adorable seeing her in some of the many outfits available. I couldn’t persuade Luke to dress up as a knight though! After an icecream we headed into the castle.

When exploring the Castle all three of us took on the challenge of finding the hidden jester puppets within the impressive rooms as well as learning more of the history housed within the building. Completing the Jester challenge meant Freya got to choose some sweeties which she was more than happy with.

We finished off the visit sitting and looking out at the beautiful views and then browsing around the lovely gift shop where Freya chose a crown and matching wand to take home.

The Berkeley family warmly welcome visitors to their fortress home from Sunday to Wednesday each week from the 25th of March to the end of October. There are many events held during this time so it’s well worth checking out the website at to find out what’s on however whether there is an event on or not I would highly recommend visiting, it’s a fantastic family day out, we had such a lovely day.

Thank you so much for reading,
