I absolutely love to discover and try out new skincare, body and beauty products and have been wanting to sign up for a beauty box subscription for some time. Birchbox is one such subscription that caught my attention a while back and I’ve been noticing them pop up on my social media feeds alot lately. I simply couldn’t resist any longer and signed up to receive the monthly box of goodies. I’ve recently had my first Birchbox delivered which is the September edition and I thought I’d let you know what I thought!
Birchbox First Impressions & Review.
The sign up process for Birchbox is very quick and straightforward and I love that the treats chosen for you are tailored to your skin, hair and style.
I opted for the monthly Birchbox subscription. With this option there are no commitments, no contract and you can cancel at anytime. The monthly subscription costs £10 + £2.95 for postage and packaging per month which I think is reasonable considering the contents often have a much higher value. There is also the option to sign up for a 6 monthly or yearly subscription which you can find out more about on their website.
The website is very aesthetically pleasing and has a good layout making it easy to navigate. Within a few minutes I’d selected my subscription, paid for my box and set my product preferences.
Each month you get to choose an element of your box. It may be you choose the actual box design or pick between certain products. In September’s box you had the opportunity to choose the shade of the Benefit box’o powder included. I went for Gold rush. I love this aspect of Birchbox, I think it’s nice you have a little control over what you’re receiving but because you’re not choosing every product you still have that exciting, surprise element.
My Birchbox was delivered in a sturdy and secure branded pink cardboard box which opened to reveal the very pretty purple, pastel and silver speckled design of the September edition. Instantly i was wondering what I could use the box for, it’s too pretty to just throw away! At the moment our little lady is loving collectibles so I’m thinking with a few labels I could use the empty Birchboxes to store and organise the many varieties of mini figures.
The packaging is so, so pretty and the box slides open to reveal the selected products which is cushioned on a layer of foam, a nice touch to ensure they reach you safely. Also included is a few bits of paperwork and a nicely presented leaflet listing what you have in the box along with product descriptions.
As well as the product descriptions the leaflet lets you in on which products received a 4+ star review on the Birchbox website, identifies the full size products and which out of the selection are Birchbox exclusives. I really liked having those insights and the leaflet lays out the info really well.
What I got in my September Birchbox.
What’s in it for me..? Shower Scrub 50ml.
Marcelle City 24H Pollution Day & Night Moisturising Emulsion 7ml.
Number 4 Jour d’automne Smoothing Balm 30ml.
Benefit Box O’ Powder in Gold Rush 1.6g.
Blaq Peel Off Mask 15ml.
As well as this I also received a free gift of the Estate Cosmetics Lip Duo. Now I think I qualified for this because it was my first Birchbox and I’m not sure if it’s still available now, I’ve had a look on their website and can’t find it however they do have another offer running up until the 30th of September where you can get 2 boxes (September’s and a mystery box) all for £10 + P&P when ordering your first box. All you have to do is use the code COUPLE at the checkout. I’ll link the website at the bottom in case you’re interested.
So overall I was very happy with my September Birchbox, all the products I received are things I’m really interested in,which is fantastic! I love a face mask, make up is a winner and there was a good mix covering beauty, skincare and body. I’m really excited to get stuck in and try out the products and after noticing a sneak peak of October’s box in the leaflet I’m already super excited for my next!
After I’ve received a few more boxes I will do a sort of update post on whether I’m still enjoying it, if the products still interest me and let you know if it’s something i will be carrying on with but for now so far so good with Birchbox and it’s got the thumbs up from me.
