New Family Halloween Traditions and Mini Decoration Haul

New Family Halloween Traditions and Mini Decoration Haul

This year we are really embracing Halloween – admittedly it’s never really been something that I’ve been that bothered about, I did trick or treating as a child but gradually lost interest as I grew up however since becoming a mum it definitely has become a lot more fun. I’m actually getting quite excited about making a little more of an effort for Halloween 2017 and making some new family traditions.

We are on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin for the carving and will be hoping to be a little more adventurous with the design, don’t get too excited though – it’s a lot harder than it looks isn’t it? Luke has done some carving before when he was younger but last year was my first. Despite the mess I really enjoyed it and Freya was fascinated so I think we’ll make it a Halloween family tradition.

Each year since Freya was born we have taken her to a brilliant kids Halloween party held at our local leisure centre. It’s such a fun afternoon for the little ones and now Little lady is a bit older I know she’ll really enjoy it this year. The first time we took her along she was a teeny tiny little baba and dressed in the cutest pumpkin all in one. I remember there being quite a few little pumpkins rolling around on the play mats that year. Last year little monkey made her appearance in a fiery devils dress and spent most of the afternoon chasing the balloons around the room. This year I feel she’ok definitely have more of an opinion on her costume. Currently we are all set for her to become a troll, princess Poppy of course! not exactly scary but I figured at least she’s more likely to keep her outfit on.

Mini Halloween Haul

We recently went on a shopping trip to Asda and I was drawn to the vast amount of Halloween goodies that they have on offer in store at the moment. Isles of sweets, treats, costumes and decorations at very reasonable prices and I couldn’t resist grabbing a few decorations for our home, I know little one will love it.

If you are interested I’ll leave links to the online ranges of decorations although I think it’s a little different to what is available in store however  I thought I’d share with you what we got anyways! If you do like the look of them I’d recommend heading to your local Asda soonish as I know they disappear quite quickly as Halloween draws nearer . I’m likely to go back and grab a few more.

Happy Halloween banner/bunting – £1

I love the cute characters on this design, it’s perfect for little ones as even though its obviously Halloween themed its not too scary. Super cute! Look at the owl!

Little Horrors Pumpkin Paper Lantern – £1

Another cute design to celebrate the fun side of Halloween.

Little Horrors Window Decorations – £1

Why not decorate the windows too!

Little Horrors Garland – £2

I think this has to be my favourite of what we picked out! Cute little witches hats! I do have a thing about bunting.

Little Horrors Mixed Garland – £2

More fun Garlands for the Halloween celebrations, great for parties.

Spooky cup with Straw – £1

Little one was very keen on this spooky cup and straw!

Asda Halloween Decorations

I have also picked up a few bits from Tesco so thought I may as well include them, they also have a great selection of Halloween goodies available and it’s well worth checking for all your Halloween needs.

Halloween web treat bowl – £1 & Creepy Confetti – £1

We currently seem to be using the treat bowl for bits and bobs but it will house the treats when Halloween comes! Freya was very keen to have this! The confetti I brought to use for photo flat lays.

Witches broom – £1

How cute is this! and only £1 ( I will note if you do get hold of one of these do not cut the paper ties! I thought they was just packaging but actually its holding the broom head on! this particular one is now being held together by a hair band haha!)- its hard to tell in this photo but its actually the perfect size for Freya,  I actually brought it more as a photo prop though.

Pumpkin Treat Bucket – 50p

A must for all little tricker treaters.

Tesco Halloween Decorations

So there we have it, I will probably pick up some more bits here and there, I’ve never really decorated for Halloween before but as I said above I know the little one is going to love it and actually I’m a little bit excited as well.

I’m hoping to start a few more fun Halloween inspired family activities/traditions – maybe some creepy crafts, trick or treating around family and close friends, I’ve noticed some cool looking events taking place around Halloween so maybe something like that and some spooky biscuit baking ( with my baking skills they will be scary!)

Anyone stick to certain Halloween traditions? leave me a comment I’d love to hear what you get up to!

Have a wonderful and happy Halloween all!

P.S

( We popped into Morrisons and they also had a great range of Halloween decorations, sweets and treats so I thought I’d include the link.)

Mum Hacks – A Review by My Little Brushneen Blog

Mum Hacks – A Review by My Little Brushneen Blog

One thing that i love, and have done since I was able to, is to read. That feeling of achievement and satisfaction when you finish your latest book, whether it’s Getting immersed in a captivating romance, fantasy or crime novel, learning something new with a factual read or particularly ,at the moment, picking up tips from the latest bridal mag, I find reading one of the most relaxing and enjoyable hobbies and yet since becoming a mum just never seem to have the time to do. Luke and I generally, all being well get a few hours in the evening after little one has gone to bed to ourselves, within this time I find I want to do a hundred different things (slight exaggeration) and so reading has been put on the back burner a little.

The Liebster Award Tag

The Liebster Award Tag

Hello everyone, hope you are all well! I’ve finally got around to posting my Liebster award tag, a great get to know you style tag for bloggers to take part in and learn more about each other.

I was nominated by the lovely Joanna Marcini, you can find her on twitter @joannamarcini and her beautiful travel and lifestyle blog at www.joannamarcini.com

THE RULES:
1. Answer the 11 questions that your nominator has asked you.
2. Nominate 11 other bloggers (with under 200 followers)
3. Ask your nominees 11 questions.
4. Let them know you nominated them!

Now I will admit I found it hard to stick to nominating only those with under 200 followers and a few of my nominees do have more, I recently read @waldorf_dreams (http://www.waldorf-dreams.com) Liebster tag post and agree that it’s more about the person rather than the numbers right? Find My list of nominees below my answers.

Here are my answers to Joanna’s questions:

1. Out of all the countries you have visited, which one did you like the most?

Good question! To be honest I haven’t visited all that many (I have quite a big travel wish list though)  but out of those I have visited I’d have to say that Barbados is my fave! It’s so very beautiful with lots to explore and I’d love to go and spend some more time there.

2. What is the most extreme thing you have ever done?

Can I say labour? … I’m going to say labour! Becoming a parent is definitely the most extreme as it changes your whole life, it’s also the most amazing, most challenging, most rewarding and most precious thing.

3. If you could only take 1 more trip, where would you go?

Hmm.. I think it would have to be New York City.  It’s right up there on my travel wish list,  I just find it fascinating and would love to experience the city that never sleeps, as Alicia Keys says it’s where dreams are made of!

4. Would you rather explore the deep ocean or outer space?

Wow that’s quite difficult as both are so full of mystery and to do either would be absolutely fantastic… I’m not a great swimmer sooo that may swing it for outer space!

5. For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

My daughter, my fiancé and my whole family, they are my world and I don’t know what I would do without them. They are my purpose, my motivation, my Everything and have stood by me through so much. There is so much in my life that I’m grateful for, having a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes on my back, health and tea! I am a tea fiend.

6. Beach or mountains?

Beach!

7. What is the last book you read?

I love to read! The last book I read was Happy mum, Happy baby by the lovely Giovanni Fletcher.

8. If you could change anything in your life what would it be?

I wish I didn’t worry quite so much and had a little more self confidence, I wish at times that I wouldn’t let my anxiety get the better of me quite so much.

9. Three things that make you smile?

My daughter, no matter what she always finds a way of making me smile, Family days out, you can’t beat that quality family time and a hot cuppa!

10. Have you ever been in love?

I’m marrying the love of my life next year, Luke and I have been together for just over 10 years and I can’t wait to finally become his wife.

11. Best advice for new bloggers?

I’ve only been blogging for just over 2 months now so I’m still very new to it but I suppose when I first started I may have got a little overwhelmed about the need to post regularly, I’d say ease your way into a schedule that suits you and just enjoy it! Don’t worry about getting a certain amount of posts written, write when your inspired and when the feeling takes you.

I would like to nominate:

 @booksandmunches – Books and Munches

 @kattwolfuk – Katt Wolf

@HayleyxLunn – Beauty with Hayley

@TheMummyBubble – The Mummy Bubble

Here’s my questions for my chosen nominees:

1. How long have you been blogging?

2. Does your blog have a primary focus?

3. what inspired you to start blogging?

4. Do you have any other hobbies/interests?

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

6. What’s your favourite way to relax?

7. Favourite author?

8. As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

9. What’s your go to quick and easy yet delicious meal?

10. What’s the first thing you would do if you won 1 million pounds?

11. Lastly because I think it’s such a great question I’ll join Joanna in asking do you have any advice for new bloggers?

Thank you so much to Joanna for nominating me, Its such a great way to get to know each other a bit more and I really enjoyed answering the questions.

July Goals

July Goals

Lately my anxiety seems to have resurfaced and quite honestly has got me feeling a bit down in the dumps! So I’ve decided to set myself some goals for July, things that I have avoided due to this little slump I’m in, things that ultimately will help get me back on track, things that help ease the stress and worry that comes with the anxiety and that I know I’ll feel very positive about achieving!
