Lifestyle changes for 2019

Lifestyle changes for 2019

Hiya you lovely lot and Hello 2019! So we are entering our 2nd week of January…already and we are now fully back into our normal routine, hubby and I were back to work on the 2nd and Little lady returned to yesterday after a lovely festive break and seemed to be raring to get back to see her friends.

We had such a great Christmas and in many ways it has seemed to have flown by however it is nice to get back to a routine aswell.

It’s mixed emotions though as although I’ve definitely had a few of those “can’t wait for Preschool to start” moments during little madams toddler tantrums and teenage like attitude (I get the whole threenager thing now for sure) I missed my mini me for the few hours she was away and was soooo looking forward to hearing about what she got up to.

Her response was “playing” when asked and she seemed to have had a fun morning, she was a little tired but in a very good mood. She absolutely loves Preschool and having the routine definitely improves her behaviour.

So New year is that time alot of us reflect and focus on making resolutions and setting certain goals to change and/or improve certain aspects of our lives. Of course not something everyone does, it’s not always something I have done and for me it’s more lifestyle changes rather than set goals but I suppose these are sort of like my resolutions for the new year which I thought I’d document and share. Here i have listed 5 lifestyle changes I want to make, there maybe some more I want to add however we’ll start with these and I intend to document how I’m getting on here on the blog. So here we go….

Get outside more.

We live in the beautiful Cotswolds and are so, so very lucky to be surrounded with stunning countryside and picturesque places to visit. All three of us love to get out in the great outdoors and explore however in the latter part of last year my anxiety worsened and we didn’t venture out anywhere near as much as I would like. This year I want us to get out even more, discover new places and revisit are favourites, walk more of the stunning countryside and adventure around the Cotswolds and beyond! I’m so excited for this and as well as being fantastic family time I’m certain it will be a massive help with getting me back on track with my anxiety.

Drink more water!

This is something that I’m incredibly bad at sticking too but it’s so so very important for so many reasons! Some days I will literally just have a couple of cups of good old English breakfast tea and most days I will get no where near the recommended 8 glasses. I’m certain it’s a huge factor in why I feel so sluggish at times. There are so many health benefits to staying hydrated and feeling more energised is one of them! This is something I’m determined to stick to.

Eat more fruit and veg.

When it comes to mealtimes I will make sure that little lady is getting her fruit and veg, since weaning it’s been a priority, she doesn’t always eat it of course, she’s great with her fruits, not so good with the veg but is improving. I concern myself with how much she is getting however I don’t share that same concern for myself! Why? It doesn’t even make sense, we need to look after our bodies too right so I intend to make more of an effort with my own diet and get those nutrients! Getting hubby to eat anything green though…now there’s a challenge.

Improve skin/hair/bodycare routine

Now as a beauty therapist I spend a great deal of time pampering others and i love all things beauty but don’t tend to find the time or put the effort into doing it for myself. Since becoming a mummy my skincare routine is non existent, wet wipes are my main cleansing product, I can’t remember the last time I used a body lotion and the only product I use on my hair is little ladys shampoo!! I can’t believe I’ve just admitted that but that’s how it is! However now I’m getting older, ladies and gents, I’m just not getting away with it anymore… my skin is in desperate need for a solid regular routine! Also I love discovering and using new and favourite beauty products!!! I can’t wait to share my favourites with you.

Self care

Really all of the above relates to the importance of self care. I’ve spoke about my desire to dedicate more time to self care here on my blog before and that’s often where it will stop…I talk about wanting to do these things but never put it into practice. It’s making me rubbish and ultimately these little changes combined is sure to make a huge difference to me, my struggles with anxiety, make me feel better about myself overall and improve my health and mental wellbeing. Self care, It’s something that we all deserve. For many of us, parents and non parents alike life is busy, stressful, at times overwhelming and whether it’s taking a long hot bubbly bath, ensuring you’re getting enough water, reading a book or simply just taking 5 minutes to yourself…it’s important. My family is my number one priority, that won’t change and I’m sure that’s the same for most but it’s not selfish to look after yourself too and that’s something I’ll be working on throughout this year in order to be a better person for the ones I love and for myself. One of my favourite quotes is “you can’t pour from an empty cup” in order to give your best to your loved ones you have to look after you too.

Hello all! Hope you’re well. I’m so pleased to be linking up with the lovely Donna from What the Redhead said for this week’s living arrows. I’m aiming to be posting more regularly again on the blog from now on and living arrows has always been one of my favourite linkys to participate in. Documenting and sharing those big and little moments that capture the magic of childhood is such a positive and wonderful thing to enjoy and look back on.

We have some home improvement plans in the pipeline which i’m so very excited about and can’t wait to get stuck into. We’re planning to start on little monkeys room which currently has a very pretty pastel pink feature wall which I still absolutely love. So the plan of action is to remove the animal and flower wall stickers we put up a good couple of years ago, touch up the paint and introduce some cream and gold touches throughout. She is still very into Frozen and princesses which we’ll add in with the bedding and accessories.

So woth that in mind on Saturday 1st of September we took a quick trip to B&Q to pick up a couple of things for the garden, check out if they had anything we could use for little ones bedroom and to get some home decor inspiration. That’s where this week’s photos were taken.

Freya loves to get out and about, even if it is just a flying visit to a DIY store which she managed to find so much fun in during the visit, isn’t it just fantastic how kids do that, find the fun in everything, make the most of it! Even if she did give us a bit of a run around at times she had a great time and so made it much more enjoyable for us aswell!

She loved exploring through the flowers, spotting all the different colours.

Pulling funny faces in the big mirrors.

She was also quite keen on rearranging some of the stock on the shelves to the floor which Daddy then had to put back.

After leaving the store we had lunch alfresco and then headed back home. It turned out to be such a lovely morning out.

You can find out who else has linked up for living arrows this week here …

Family fun day at Berkeley Castle.

Hello lovelies! How are you all? It’s been a little quiet over here on my blog lately partly due to us being so busy with the Wedding, we had such a wonderful day and family moon in Cornwall and I just felt like taking a little bit of a break on our return back but I’m back today with a post all about our most recent visit to the wonderful Berkeley Castle.

BlogOnX – Introduce Yourself Linky

Hello lovely ladies and gents, if it’s your first time visiting My Little Brushneen Blog I’m Kayleigh, 29, mummy, fiancee, beauty therapist and blogger. I blog about a variety of things but mostly focus on our family life, lifestyle and beauty.

I still consider myself as fairly new to the blogging world, first taking the plunge and posting online in May 2017. I say this alot but I can’t quite believe how quickly the time has flown by, it’s been almost a year since I started sharing our adventures and thoughts through my blog.

In that time I’ve discovered some truly amazing, fabulous and extremely talented bloggers and made some lovely friends through blogging that have supported me and my little blog and inspired me to really give this a go!

I loved seeing the posts and pics of last year’s Blog on meets, what an amazing opputunity it is to get to know fellow bloggers, learn more, liase with brands and make some lovely new friends. I seen tickets for BlogOnX advertised on social media and just couldn’t resist! Although I’m super nervous I am also super excited to be attending and I can’t wait to meet you all!!!

BlogOnX Introduce Yourself Linky Questions

It doesn’t matter if you are a veteran blogger or you started your blog yesterday we would love for you to join in!

Share a recent photo of yourself – One of the most recent, messy hair and all but I just love the little ones smile.

What’s your favourite pizza topping?

Hmm…good question, for me It has to be a hearty meat feast! It’s a family favourite in our household and definitely the one I tend to opt for the most.

You can have dinner with any three guests dead or alive- who do you choose and why?

Oh there are so many! Right now I would choose Kate Middleton because quite simply I just really admire her, for what she does along with her lovely hubby, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry heading the heads together campaign and for the awareness that brings for mental health and the support that’s out there. I also just think she’s fabulous and she seems the sort of woman that just takes everything in her stride and that she’d always have the perfect advice! Along with Kate I’d invite …Leonardo DiCaprio – I would love to talk to him about his experience within the film industry and he just seems so darn cool! Lastly I’d invite Leigh Francis aka Keith Lemon just because he’s hilarious and actually I’m interested to know what he’s like out of character…whoa what a night that would be!

Up to now what would you consider being your biggest life achievement?

Without a doubt our beautiful little baby girl.

If you woke up tomorrow as a character from any Disney film or book who would you be and why?

Well for thus weekend I would be Mary Poppins! Then not only could I travel in with my umbrella but also waltz in with a dance and a song and with that magical bag I would have no worries about packing the amazing goody bags haha!

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Check my phone for the time, I rarely set an alarm as we have our very own little human one that is impeccably consistent.

If you won the lottery what would be the very first thing you would buy and why?

A big family holiday, probably to Disneyland Florida oh that would be so amazing …I should maybe start doing the lottery, got to be in it to win it and all that.

What is your favourite quote from a movie?

“Venture outside your comfort zone, the rewards are worth it” – Rapunzel, Tangled.

If you were a superhero what would your super power be?

Super speed because I hate being late and we’d have more time to get ready.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Worrying won’t stop that bad stuff from happening but it will stop you from enjoying the good.

Which emoji do you use the most?

If you could go back in time and tell yourself anything what would it be?

The lottery numbers haha! On a serious note though I would tell myself not to be afraid to be me, have more confidence and try not to worry so much, during those anxious times don’t feel like you’re alone, ask for help because there are so many people that love you and want to be there for you, don’t hold yourself back, you’re stronger than you know, get yourself out there, you won’t regret it.

What do you currently have set as the wallpaper on your phone?

If you could do anything in the world as a legitimate job what would you do?

Oh gosh! I really love my job as a beauty therapist, I would love to one day have my own really successful business within the industry so I’d probably choose something like beauty therapist to the stars or something like that, have loads of amazing celebrity clients and work in an amazing setting!

Where is your favourite place in the world?

Other than home, has to be Cornwall, it’s one of my happy places and our favourite place to visit as a family. It’s beautiful and everything just feels so much calmer there.

So there’s a little more about me, i’m super excited for BlogOnX and hopefully making some lovely new friends, i’ll be so so nervous so if you see me than please come up and say hi, i’m super friendly! If you’re going to attending please leave me a comment and let me know, have a fantastic bank holiday weekend all!
